Budget & Finance

Description: Budget and Finance is led by the SGB Treasurer. The committee is responsible for reviewing requests for funding, line changes, and other budget matters. They also are responsible for bringing forth and recommending all financial actions to the SGB in accordance with SGA policies to be voted on. They review budget requests from all SGA gold status organizations for the following fiscal year during a scheduled budget hearing.

Constitutions & Policies

Description: Constitutions and policies is led by the SGB Parliamentarian. This committee is responsible for reviewing constitutions submitted by SGA organizations to grant recognition (maroon) or sponsored status (gold). They also review, update, and enforce SGB policies and bylaws annually.

Academic Affairs

Description:  Academic Affairs is chaired by an SGB representative that is appointed by the Vice President of SGB. They investigate academic-related issues and concerns brought to the SGB and report results. From there they recommend policies and procedure changes within the university to ensure student success. To ensure resources are available to ensure students have the best chance for success. To assist students in connection with resources that will help transitioning to the next level with regards to internships, apprenticeships, jobs, graduate schools, etc.

Student Affairs

Description: Student Affairs is chaired by an SGB representative that is appointed by the Vice President of SGB. They are responsible for ensuring a safe environment on and off campus both physically and emotionally, investigating non-academic-related issues and concerns brought to the SGB and report results, and evaluating the costs and fees of being a college student and advocate on their behalf to assist them in programs and opportunities to ease that burden. They also are to recommend policies and procedure changes within the university to ensure a happy and healthy student life.

Public Relations

Description: Public Relations is chaired by an SGB representative that is appointed by the Vice President of SGB. The main goal of this committee is to publicize and promote the SGB in a positive light. This committee is in charge of organizing the production of SGB business cards, ensure the purchase of promotional items, assist with marketing of elections, and produce publications pertaining to SGB events. Public Relations also regularly updates the display case in the lobby of the MSU. This committee is also responsible for helping aid in direct communication between SGB, its constituents, and external government entities.

Internal Affairs

Description: Internal Affairs is chaired by an SGB representative that is appointed by the Vice President of SGB. They are responsible for coordinating events to raise funds for the SGB private account.  Also to organize philanthropies for the SGB. They are also responsible for ensuring consistency from year to year, through avenues such as: Town-Gown Events, Alumni Relations, and University Co-Operation and Participation. This committee plans events and outings for the board to enjoy, while also documenting and recording SGB events.
